Why do vegetarians wear leather shoes?

this is getting frustrating. leather shoes play such a big role in "dressing nice" these days. I try and find hemp alternatives but they just dont look like you could wear a suit with them. And now they are even making hemp shoes with leather mixed in. What do you guys think, is it possible to justify wearing leather shoes but not eating meat? Why do vegetarians wear leather shoes?
Not everyone who is a vegetarian does it out of concern for animal welfare. However, if that is your motivation, then I agree wearing leather shoes seems inconsistent. I'm not sure where you draw the line however because so many products and drugs are the end result of actual animal substances or involve(d) animal testing. I suppose a common justification for this halfheartedness would be "doing something" as opposed to "doing nothing".
Reply:it depends, i am a vegetarian, and I wear some leather shoes, but before I buy them, I have to check that the company that makes them treated the animals humanely. i do not support companies like ugg who torture there animals, also, there are lots of vegitarians who are not vegetarians for the animals, but because they don't like the taste, or because they cant eat it because of health reasons. I personally cannot eat meat just because the idea of having an animal inside me grosses me out, but i do not have any problems if the animals are raised in farms instead of factories, not given hormones or chemicals, and either killed humainly, or used after they die naturaly.

umm well i think you should look for shoes that are made out of leather that has been used from already dead animals??


maybe that would make you feel better


and leather is the only animal product i wear so maybe you should just exclude other animal products but wear leather like one thing of leather
Reply:I am veggie and I avoid leather as much as possible, but I ride horses so if the saddles are leather then there isnt much i can do about it.
