I love the Franco Sarto loafers but they look a little thick compared to what I see on the streets. Are the pointy shoes still in? I do have a pair of flats but they are too casual for work.
Any suggestions? I want to be in style.
Thanks,
What kind of shoes are in style these days for a 40-ish working woman?
Mary Jane shoes and courts. Go for patent and embellishments such as buckles and chain links. If you are brave, heeled brogues look extremely stylish.

Reply:Forty is the new twenty! Loafers are a little drab. Go for some cute pointy-toed narrow heels, pumps, pretty much anything! Nothing clunky or thick, though. Feminine is the key.
Remember: leather is never in style. Dead animal skin stretched to make clothes and furniture? Ew. Just ew.
Reply:Ones that are comfortable.
Reply:BOOTS
Camo boots
work boots
contrustion boots
and them things called clogs.
Reply:I suggest regular pumps, ma'am.
Uh-huh.
Reply:whatever is comfortable for you....pointy, square, or rounded toes are great....an ankle boot is always nice under dress pants....of course you can never go wrong with the classic pump with a small heel...just make sure they fit well, and if you are not used to wearing a high heel, then don't start with one....your feet will be complaining before the end of your day
Reply:I see it run the gamut from loafers to those ungodly heels (I don't know how you ladies do it).
Reply:Yes pointy shoes are in but so are round toed shoes. Textures are really in. And of course you can go wrong with a pair of dress boots with a heel. Also patent leather is making a come back.
Reply:Usually a pointed flat or a pointed low heel are in style for woman around that age. :)

Reply:Being in style is very simple. Buy new clothes from a store that prides itself on being fashionable.
The new clothes will not be old styles.
Reply:Flats are great if you're not too short. You can get dressy ones. They won't hurt your feet either.
Boots are in with a wedge heel. Yes point toes are still in, but not as much as they used to be. Go for a more rounded pointy toe nowadays.
You should definitely own basic pumps. They won't go out of style and don't make any huge statement. Perfect for your age.
