How do you dress for a job interview if the person who is gonna interview me told me to dress "VERY casual"?

I was told you always dress super nice, even if they tell you to dress casual. Dress shirt, tie, dress pants, and dress shoes. But what if he thinks I'm too uptight or something? Should I dress business casual, like a nice polo shirt, dress pants, and dress shoes? Or should I dress it up?

How do you dress for a job interview if the person who is gonna interview me told me to dress "VERY casual"?
That's a tough one. What kind of job is this for? Sounds like a trick to me.

I would avoid being "VERY casual" and go with some kahkis, a nice polo and decent shoes. That way, you look more dressed up than usual but not in a full out suit.
Reply:My suggestion: Schedule something on the same day that requires a suit. That will be your excuse for wearing the suit to the interview. (Even better if it's another interview.)
Reply:I think a guy looks good in a nice polo shirt, and pressed jeans,no holes or anything.or dress pants,I wouldn't wear a tie and jacket..just look nice.I would go with the business casual,if he says something say I thought this was casual.or you wouldn't want me to come in my casual(lol)
Reply:If they tell you to dress casual that means you can get away without wearing a jacket.. and depending on the position, maybe without a tie.

But really, it is always a good idea to just go fully dressed up. Nobody is going to hold it against you.
Reply:If you were told to dress VERY casual, wearing a suit is out. I would say a tie is out too. Is this at an IT company? If so, business casual is just fine (over the top on a normal working day, but OK for an interview).

Have you ever seen anybody at this company in person? How were they dressed? Dress similarly if you have.
Reply:I guess it depends on where it is. If it's a really laid back place, I'd still wear nice khakis and a button up shirt or a polo and some nice shoes. You can definitely do casual w/o looking sloppy. Good luck!
Reply:Khakis, shoes (no sneaks or sandals) a button down shirt or a polo shirt.
Reply:shirt and jeans

if he asks you to do that, he'll realize that you'll do what he says.
Reply:If the interviewer said VERY casual I would go with khakis and a polo shirt and a *clean* pair of tennis shoes.
Reply:No jeans.

Listen, dont take the risk of losing like a loser. His idea of "very casual" and your idea may be 2 different things. Therefore, wear khaki pants %26amp; a button down shirt/polo shirt, and a clean pair of decent casual shoes. Thats casual enough. Dont do the flip-flops, shorts, and dirty t-shirt thing--please.
Reply:business casual. Nice slacks, nice shirt, nice shoes.....look professional but comfortable.

What brown shoes to wear with blue jeans and blazer?

I read a lot of sites that say if you decide to wear brown shoes with jeans, you certainly can. However, you have to make sure the shoe is not too dressy, like polished type of look where you wear for formal occasions.

http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/12341176.ht...

Is this too polished ? I am assuming anything that says Oxford is too dressy for jeans? The thing is i want to wear a blazer with jeans along with brown shoes. The blazer is sort of tan/brownish which is why i chosed brown for shoes. I didn't know the brown shoes should not look dressy or have that polished type of look which my shoe does. This shoe is under the category of dress shoe when i bought it online.

My question is if i wear a brown/tan blazer with dark blue jeans, does the brown shoe i buy must be under the category of casual? I am asking this because i hear people saying never buy dress shoes if you want to wear blue jeans even though you may be wearing a tan/brown blazer.

Is wearing brown loafers the best idea ?

What brown shoes to wear with blue jeans and blazer?
The shoes you show here are definitely dressy.

Try loafers, moccasins, boat shoes, or any shoe that is not 'glossy' when new. [ suede oxford maybe? ]

As a general rule...

Black shoes go with black, gray, greens, blues, and purples.

Dark [ coffee bean ] shoes go with brown, tan, reds, oranges, and yellows.
Reply:I think the shoes from the link might be a tad dressy not because of the style but because they do look a bit too shiny for your blazer/jeans ensemble (although the Kenneth Coles are handsome shoes and worth it if you have other outfits to wear with them). If you have brown leather loafers that are not shiny, I think they are perfect and, yes, your best bet/idea.

Sounds like once you get yourself "all put together" the ladies will be flocking around you. And, how did I guess you were single? If you were married, you wouldn't have to ask us this question ------- your wife would already have your whole outfit picked out !! (:0)=

PS: Don't forget to wear a brown leather casual belt that's not shiny either !!

Advice on shoes for suit & dress?

I'm clueless when it comes to fashion %26amp; struggling to find shoes for 2 outfits. One is a periwinkle blue dress. The other is a suit with an ice blue jacket and a plaid-ish skirt that has ice blue, pistachio green, silver and white in it. I'm hoping I might find one pair of shoes that will work for both...usually wear black pumps or sandals but they don't quite work with these colors. I have 2 questions:

What do you think would be the best color(s) of shoe?

Do you think strappy sandals are too casual to go with a suit? The suit jacket is short sleeved and skirt is above the knee, if that matters.

Advice on shoes for suit %26amp; dress?
What type of event are you wearing these outfits for? Perhaps a dressy silver sandal with a small heal would work. Then of course accessorize with silver jewelry. What is the material of the periwinkle dress? Is it a casual sundress, a cocktail dress, or something for work? Where you plan to wear these outfits can also help to determine what shoes to pair them with. You could alos consider a flesh toned strapless backed shoe to keep it neutal and sexy. Very simple is key.
Reply:I would suggest a open toe shoe with the jacket and skirt. Bring out a color in you skirt.
Reply:GO WITH WHITE PEEPTOE PUMPS. THEY CAN LOOK PROFESSIONAL WITH A SUIT AND CUTE WITH A DRESS. YOU CAN DRESS THEM UP OR DOWN
Reply:I would do open toed heels with one or a few wide straps, then it is not too casual. Maybe a peek-a-boo toe. If you don't like having alot of shoes, the most versatile color would be white. Plus white is gool for warmer months rather than black pumps. I put a link to something I think would look nice below.
Reply:just wear a type of strapped sandle dress shoe. They work well with everything.
Reply:i;d buy shoes that you can dye to match or white low heels .other anwser/dreesy pumps would look nice hose color has alot to do with your outfits good luck (stevie)
Reply:i agree with hot_celina
Reply:i wear suits and dresses everyday for work.

best colour of shoe would be something classic so not only will it go with these two outfits but also others. try cream.

there are so many types of strappy's, i wear strappy's in the summer that have heels. if they are flat would probably be too casual

In a jeans/polo shirt casual work environment, what is a more stylish shoe to replace sneakers?

I typically wear black/blue jeans, and solid colored polo shirts to work. I lately not liked how tennis shoes / sneakers look. What is one all-purpose shoe I could get that would match with everything and go up on the style ladder shoe wise. Black? Brown? I need to keep it simple. Links to shoes would be helpful.

Try zappos.com They have tons of shoes orfanized by category. Im sure you'll find somethign there you like. You dont have to buy from them but it will give you a good idea of what you want. Try looking under casual.
Reply:I personally would go with a pair of Johnston Murphy shoes. These are good for work or even going out or hanging with friends. www.JohnstonMurphy.com They have a casual section there that might suit you. As for what color shoes; Well make sure your shoes match your belt. Ex Black belt means black shoes. Brown belt means brown shoes.
Reply:I know you said no sneakers, but Lacoste brand shoes seems to be popular here with the men (even tho they aren't supposed to wear them because its a competitor logo). Love their soft bottom loafers and they're very comfy (I've heard). The sneakers are also "dressy" enough to not look too much like sneakers (if that makes any sense).
Reply:dubarry shoes! they ar so hot! you can buy them in black or brown or navy!

Reply:Loafers
Reply:sketchers are ugly! They have leather slip on loafers at LL Bean .com that are perferct for that. Good Luck.
Reply:Brown/Tan Sperry's Boat Shoes
Reply:go to this website and click on Nothinz shoes, they are soo comforable and stylish and casual all in one: www.redwingofidahofalls.com

--and u may have to scrool down and look to youe left for the NOTHINZ SHOES
Reply:I found these shoes to be appropriate. It's on the Kohls website under casual shoes. I have provided the link. Good luck!

Reply:I would recommend you to go look in Dillards in the men's shoes. They seem to have great options and nice people who are willing to help you look great.
Reply:A nice boot or casual dress shoe. Heck, you can now find these at walmart for a great price! I'd get a black and brown pair if I were you...they would cover your whole wardrobe!
Reply:A black leather sneaker with black shoe strings or low ankle and calf high boots in black leather or suede is a very nice and more comfortable replacement for the black patent leather dress shoe we all want to avoid. The idea is to look like your wearing a somewhat more casual dress shoe with the comfort and feel of sneakers. You won't have to spend much, my sister and I get ours from Walmart and Pay Less Shoe Stores. They aren't hard to find, they are popular in the business world, as are dark pants, skirts and jackets.
Reply:How about these nifty two-tone boots?
Reply:If you are going with an earth tone shirt then go with brown basic leather slip on, black is a good back up it goes with everything! Try Nordstrom ( great for mens shoes) Any basic department store will have a casual yet work appropriate shoes. Good Luck, happy shopping!

What is the best brand of womens' work shoes?

I've been looking for "business casual" (no sneakers, no open toes or heels) shoes to work in, but all of them seem to have VERY poor cushioning, little support, or some combination of the two. To make matters worse, the few that have felt good never come in wide sizes, which I absolutley must use. Anyone have any idea of a brand, or specific shoe that might work? They don't even need to be too dressy, plain black will do. I'm on my feet 12-14 hours per day at work so PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

What is the best brand of womens' work shoes?
Nursemates are excellent shoes for someone standing on their feet for long periods of time. I used them when I was a cosmetologist. They come in all sizes, but I didn't use black, I used white. Good luck.
Reply:Lands End has some good shoes that should work.

Reply:AEROSOLES!!!! They have ALL sorts of styles but they are the most comfortable shoe made, no matter what business you're in. They are even coming out with sexy shoes and sandals, but definitely have 'business casual'. You can find them at Macy's, Nordstrom, among other stores, but I'm sure they have a website, and they do have their own stores.

I just bought theses shoes, what should i wear with them? (pic)?

http://www.journeyskidz.com/catalog_deta... heres a pic of the shoes. I was thinking capris to show off the cute leg wraps? or a black mini skirt? I found this http://shop.foxracing.com/ecomm/AutoForw... dress in the mall and I like it what do you think (in the black) maybe with a white tank under it?

I just bought theses shoes, what should i wear with them? (pic)?
wear them with high-waisted short shorts and a plain white top. its a simple look and allows you to accesorize and not have the rest of your outfit take away from your cute shoes.

I like the dress but not with the shoes. i'm thinking more flip flops...

Hope i helped! =)

Reply:i like the dress and the shoes. i wouldn't wear capris with them but a mini skirt or a dress would look really cute with them.
Reply:I love the shoes and the dress by themselves. But from the link it looked like the dress had pattern and if you put them together it would be too much pattern. Maybe just a simple black dress or a pare of dark jeans and a white top.
Reply:I dont really like the dress. But what you could do is wear a cute denim mini skirt, w/h a black and white polo shirt, they sell those things at aero, abercrombie. That would be really cute.
Reply:i think this outfit would def. work .. maybe where that cute dress with capris or just like it is..

and those shoes aare super cute.

and the dress should be black..

What shoes to wear with dress?

Ok, I just bought a red halter top dress for my engagment pictures. Its plain, red, hits at knee, it is a halter and its a nice cotton material. The thing is, my pictures are going to be outside. The dress is a heavier cotten, its borderline dressy. So I need some help with shoes that will make it more summery and casual. The dress is a size 10, and I'm a thicker girl. I'm 5'10, but my legs are not my best feature, so I want to play down my shoes. Should I get red to match(that'll be hard), black, brown, or maybe flesh colored? And then, I have ugly feet, so I don't what flip flops, or something that will show all of my toes. A peep toe would be nice. I don't want a shoe that covers all of my foot either, its got to be made for summer weather. Can anyone send me pics, or tell me a shoe on a website? I need some fashion help!!!

What shoes to wear with dress?
I would go with a natural color strappy shoe with a 2 inch slender (not chunky) heel. That way the dress stands out and your feet blend in more with your leg making them look longer and slender.
Reply:well you can pick from red or black but i woul go for red . 4 inch staletto heel shoes dont worry about your toes in stalettos your feet look awesome no matter what . with a red clutch and red jewlrey.
Reply:Check here this looks http://www.shoemall.com/catalog/product....
Reply:How about Espadrilles? Very summery, but covers the feet.
Reply:http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d...

this shoe in red would look nice with a halter dress. It will also make your legs look longer which makes them look slimmer.
Reply:I suggest, go to payless... try on some red, strappy wedges. They are very summer-like. I'm not too fond of my legs or feet either, but, wedges are awesome! Just try 'em, you don't have to keep 'em if you don't like them. I wouldn't do a flesh colored though... I'd do something with red in the shoe. Not too overpowering though, not too much red. Good luck!!!
Reply:if you want them to flatter your legs, wear high heels. if you don't walk well in them, get wedges! i think tropical print espadrilles with some red in them would look great and make your dress a little more casual.

here are some that might work: (the printed ones)

Reply:OK, here's some really good ones that will work:

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref...

These are peep toes, which are totally cute, and it will make you look taller and slimmer.

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref...

These really cute white ones would work well too.

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref...

These red ones might be a LITTLE much, so if you wear them, make sure that you DON'T wear red lipstick, or have a red purse. Black and/or white accsessories would look really classy.

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref...
Reply:how about a wedge those that are red and the sole is like a tan color, or also peep toe pumps would look nice in a tan color or white since its spring and outside i would rather go with light colors than black..
Reply:try gold high heels with jewels and probably good to have gold jewlery and purse
Reply:its hard to tell what your dress looks exactly like. But i looked through shoes on payless and i saw one that looked pretty good and matched somewhat of the description you wanted. it is a no healed no open toed black summer shoe. When i think plaid i think black shoes... in most plaid dresses red is the most of the color you see in the dress so if you add red shoes to the picture it could make it look overdone.. the gold idea i am not so sure about... maybe if you add gold accents like some jewlery and earings.... i dont think you should go with the purse idea... that someone had mentioned before.. just because it is a engagement picture and i dont thinkthat useing a purse would look good in it... if you have a copy of the pic though that would be great... let me know what you decide to choose...
Reply:Heels are the cutest
Reply:You could nicely do some light brown peep toe shoes. Make sure they have a heel, but not too big since you don't want to make your legs and feet your main feature. They will look great. Good Luck!
