How do you dress for a job interview if the person who is gonna interview me told me to dress "VERY casual"?

I was told you always dress super nice, even if they tell you to dress casual. Dress shirt, tie, dress pants, and dress shoes. But what if he thinks I'm too uptight or something? Should I dress business casual, like a nice polo shirt, dress pants, and dress shoes? Or should I dress it up?

How do you dress for a job interview if the person who is gonna interview me told me to dress "VERY casual"?
That's a tough one. What kind of job is this for? Sounds like a trick to me.

I would avoid being "VERY casual" and go with some kahkis, a nice polo and decent shoes. That way, you look more dressed up than usual but not in a full out suit.
Reply:My suggestion: Schedule something on the same day that requires a suit. That will be your excuse for wearing the suit to the interview. (Even better if it's another interview.)
Reply:I think a guy looks good in a nice polo shirt, and pressed jeans,no holes or anything.or dress pants,I wouldn't wear a tie and jacket..just look nice.I would go with the business casual,if he says something say I thought this was casual.or you wouldn't want me to come in my casual(lol)
Reply:If they tell you to dress casual that means you can get away without wearing a jacket.. and depending on the position, maybe without a tie.

But really, it is always a good idea to just go fully dressed up. Nobody is going to hold it against you.
Reply:If you were told to dress VERY casual, wearing a suit is out. I would say a tie is out too. Is this at an IT company? If so, business casual is just fine (over the top on a normal working day, but OK for an interview).

Have you ever seen anybody at this company in person? How were they dressed? Dress similarly if you have.
Reply:I guess it depends on where it is. If it's a really laid back place, I'd still wear nice khakis and a button up shirt or a polo and some nice shoes. You can definitely do casual w/o looking sloppy. Good luck!
Reply:Khakis, shoes (no sneaks or sandals) a button down shirt or a polo shirt.
Reply:shirt and jeans

if he asks you to do that, he'll realize that you'll do what he says.
Reply:If the interviewer said VERY casual I would go with khakis and a polo shirt and a *clean* pair of tennis shoes.
Reply:No jeans.

Listen, dont take the risk of losing like a loser. His idea of "very casual" and your idea may be 2 different things. Therefore, wear khaki pants %26amp; a button down shirt/polo shirt, and a clean pair of decent casual shoes. Thats casual enough. Dont do the flip-flops, shorts, and dirty t-shirt thing--please.
Reply:business casual. Nice slacks, nice shirt, nice shoes.....look professional but comfortable.
