Help me make a party dress more casual for friend's sweet 16?!?

One of my best friends is having a party in a week to celebrate her 16th birthday (and it also serves as a "goodbye party" as she's moving). she's hiring a dj and everything but other than that it seems like it's kinda casual. i have this blue dress i would love to wear with some black high heels but i am afraid that i will look over-dressed?? (originally i wanted to wear a white casual tube dress or something but didnt find an affordable one on time and don't have time to shop for one any more)

the dress is pretty long as far as i'm concerned. it's slightly longer than mid-thigh but not quite knee-length. on the picture it looks quite wide but it's actually a fairly tight (but not too tight, it's just a stretchy material) that flows at the legs.

Try to see if you can remove that rhinestone buckle in the front. Or wear a tight white or black tee underneath to make it more causal. Also try on a pair of jeans under it (this may or may not look good, try and see)
Reply:Don't wear heels with this if the party is casual. Wear ballet flats or nice flip flops. I'd wear my hair up but not too dressy and not a lot of jewlery as the dress has that shiny bit at the bust.

The shoes are really cute but I don't like them with this dress. Hope that helps
Reply:i think the dress is perfect!! maybe some silver sandals with a heel:)
Reply:I ♥ the dress and the shoes I think it would go fine!

But, if you want to dress it down some maybe wear some leggings under it(i dont really know how that would look since Icant see in person lol) with some of your ballet flats. Also if the rhinestone buckle could be romoved that would help.but if not its fine.
Reply:i think its perfect!!
Reply:Have you spoken with your friend to see what she is wearing? If everyone else is wearing jeans, then maybe the blue dress (which is pretty) should be put on the back burner for something a little more formal. Can you dance with your black heals or are you wanting to wear them for looks? (I really like the shoes) If your friend is wearing a dress, then I say go for it. If she isn't, I would change my strategy.
Reply:OK the dress is so cute and i think it is perfect.

I'd wear sliver flats or cute(nicer sandles mayb with a little heel). It wont look over dressed and they will be comfy and u can party.
Reply:to make anythign more casual just add flip-flops
